MacLeods Maidens

OVERVIEW

STAR RATING: Scenic 5 star

POSITION: NW Loch Bracadale

EXPERIENCE: Competent, site has no difficulties

DIVE DEPTH: 15-25m

CONDITIONS: A heavy swell can build with the wind from the southwest and the site can be undiveable

SEA BED: The seabed consists of white shell sand with a sharply rising rock face

TIDES: The tide can run strongly at the western extremities of the site, but within the gullies should not be a problem

TAKE CARE: Occasionally fisherman lay mono-filament nets at this site on the sand at the base of the rock

DESCRIPTION

This is an excellent dive for the photographer as the visibility is normally in excess of 15 metres. The majestic pinnacles descend from the surface to the seabed, opening into a series of gulleys and small caves encrusted in colourful soft coral and host to an abundant variety of marine life.
